Been a long time

Wow...I haven't posted on here in a long time, had no idea it has been so long! I've been keeping more people up to date on my FB wall, so the blog just isn't getting the attention it used to. Christmas is done, the new year has begun...it's winter. There just isn't much worth blogging about these days I suppose.

We are getting our new gas fireplace today!! Yay! We've been talking about doing this for so long, and it is finally happening!

I will work on the taxes a little bit today too, I have the day off so I should do something productive I guess.

Ugh! Could I be more boring?!

Summer already

Seems like I just wrote a post about it being spring... Just shows how busy we've been around here. Between school, work, a trip to CO, more work, summer camp, lacrosse, etc.... sheesh... Time is flying by and we don't seem to be able to just sit back and relax anymore. Not sure why, but it is just that way.

Went to the dentist today to get a crown, and told him I was so happy to be sitting in the chair, just for a chance to sit there and not be distracted by the laundry, phone, dog...whatever. Just an hour of sitting there and doc and Natalie doing all the work. He says he's heard that before, so now I don't feel so pathetic.

Summer hit us here in St. Louis pretty quick. It seems like a couple weeks ago it was perfect, and we were sitting here with the windows open, eating dinner on the porch. Not now!! 8:00 at night and still hanging in there at 94 degrees... just plain hot. Travis wants to go for a bike ride on his new bike, but the heat and humdity are down-right oppressive.

He's doing summer camp at Pegasus again...loves it so why do anything different.

So, that is our world right now. Looking forward to our annual trek to MI and might even take the bikes this year, now that Travis is riding.

It is spring..

I just noticed I hadn't posted in a month!! I guess that means we've been busy around here. After getting back from San Diego we've been really racing around. Did the re-fi on the mortgage, which was way cool...saving some money there!!

Started up lacrosse season, games on Sundays (except today we've been rained out). Practices Mon and Wed nights. Steve is parent coaching, so he takes care of going to practices, except when he is traveling. Travis loves lacrosse!! I am enjoying it too, I keep thanking him for picking a cool sport...I would slit my wrists if I had to watch baseball every week....

Garden is mostly planted, now we only have tomatoes and peppers to finish up. I sure hope it is a bountiful harvest!! We have expanded past last year's small starter garden, and are up to maybe 250 sq. feet!!

I got a Blackberry!! I'm feeling very technologically advanced now.. This thing does so many things, I may never really use it to it's fullest capacity. But, at least I'm having fun with it. Looking at dropping the home phone land line, now I know there is a gizmo - bluetooth gateway - that will allow our cell phone calls to be answered on existing handsets... Once again...way cool!!! I just need to think of all the places I'll need to change our home phone number from..that is a pain!! But, if we can save $50/month, it could be worth it.

Oh, then there was the thumb surgery...taking a wayward piece of bone out and re-attaching my ligament!! No small task and I'm still on the mend with stitches being removed this next week. Hope to have more range of motion with my thumb, and strength without pain. Well worth the few weeks of disruption. The last 2 weeks have been a challenge!

OK...well, I hope that catches the highlights.

Spring Break

We are on Spring Break.... decided to head to San Diego this year, and we are enjoying it! Very nice weather, a bit cool in the morning, but overall the sun comes out and makes up for it. Not posting much about it right now, but overall there is so much to do we can't possibly do it all in a week!!

Never thought I'd say this...Facebook is fun!! Yup, me on a social networking site. But, I have connected with so many people from high school, camp, family...you name it and folks are coming out of the woodwork. You should look into it....really!!

Pop vs. Soda

I don't think a day goes by when the debate of pop vs. soda comes up for me. Being from Michigan, it is Pop. Living in St. Louis means people have no idea what I'm talking about. A gal I work with is from Chicago, which gives me some back-up... This is a cool map that Steve found when this very subject came up at his office... Stunning how something so mundane can be so fascinating to so many!!

Happy New Year

It is January, and we are getting our daylight back, 1 or 2 minutes a day. I'm noticing it, not pitch black when we go to piano lessons, the sun not directly in my eyes as I drive to work. Little things. January in St. Louis, it can be 50 one day, and 20 the next. No snow either, which really makes it depressing....just a little snow to play in would be nice for Travis.

So we keep on working and doing our thing, nothing exciting that's for sure. Starting to work on the taxes, want to get those done as soon as possible. Thanks to Quicken and Turbo Tax, I can do that. All I need is our W-2's and our interest statements, and I'm done!

Strange thing is that I need to start getting summer camps lined up! In January..yes. Registration begins tomorrow for Travis' favorite summer camp, and for him to get the classes he wants, I need to be on the ball!

The only thing worse than January is February...that is the dreariest month of them all, good thing it is short!
